In 1899 Jantina Helling came into possession of the mill. In 1919 the mill was permanently shut down. Jantina Helling died in Hoogeveen in 1949. The heirs can't really do anything with the mill. They therefore decide to sell her for a symbolic amount to the dairy and corn mill "Zweeloo". The condition is that the mill gets the name of the last owner. In 1952 the mill was restored, but hardly used afterwards. In 1978, when the mill was again in urgent need of restoration, the municipality purchased the mill. The association 'Vrienden van de Aeldermeul' took care of the mill in 1981 as manager and carried out the restorations in 1981 and 1991. Since 1983, the mill has been running regularly on a voluntary basis.
