This elongated dry valley south of Schin op Geul is one of the most popular hiking areas in South Limburg. Various species flourish in the calcareous grasslands
Rare wild orchids. The Forestry Commission maintains an orchid garden here, where you can walk through the field during the flowering season (May, June) and admire the fragile flowers without trampling them.
The Gerendal is particularly untouched. Sheep graze between the hills, paths meander between hedges full of birds, along road crosses and along lush forest edges.
A single cottage completes the picturesque picture.
