Description

The statue of the Sacred Heart by Jan Custers was placed in 1927 on a park near the Kerkplein in front of the St. Bavo Church.

The standing figure of Christ holds his arms outstretched, the stigmata visible in his hands. On his chest is the flaming heart, surmounted by a cross. Christ is standing on a globe surrounded by clouds, on which a chalice and instruments of the Passion are depicted on the front.
