The Schorren is an intertidal salt marsh area located on the Dutch Wadden Island of Texel. This marsh, situated in the northeastern part of the island, was created after the adjacent polder De Eendracht was diked in the nineteenth century. The area has high ecological value and is owned by the Society for the Preservation of Nature Monuments in the Netherlands. It forms a whole with the mudflats and sandbanks in the adjacent Wadden Sea, which are named “Vlakte van Kerken.” The Schorren cover an area of 1,300 hectares; the total area of the reserve in the Wadden Sea, including The Schorren and the Vlakte van Kerken, is approximately 6,700 hectares.
