NATURE DEVELOPMENT AREA DORPSZICHT
The nature development of Dorpzicht is part of the Texel nature development programme, which strengthens nature on Texel.
Now that the work has started, the image of Dorpzicht changes regularly. The first contours of the old subsoil and trench structure are already visible. The existing waterways have been cleaned and filled in. A part has been taped off to degrade the soil.
By restoring the old creeks, creating a new creek and excavating the top layer of soil with vegetation, the habitat of rare orchids and meadow birds is strengthened. The walking path that will be extended into a round of Dorpzicht and the new viewpoint ensure that visitors will soon be able to experience the nature reserve even better. This work will be completed in March 2017.
