The current St. Gummarus church 1902 replaces a church from the early nineteenth century, which had become too small. The church is one of the most important later works in the oeuvre of Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers, although the design was modified by his son Jos and Jan Stuyt. Severely damaged by war in 1944, restored 1949, tower rebuilt in 1960. Major restoration with so-called whopper subsidy, 2000s.
