This recreative roll post is a reminder of times gone by, when roller posts stood at every bend of the Vecht along the towing path. These are poles with a rolling section at the water's edge along which the rope of the towing boat could be guided. This prevented the horse from pulling the tip of the boat into the bank. The towing path is no longer visible here, but along the entire Vecht there was a narrow path from 1630, over which the horse or a person walked to tow a boat.
