The inn probably dates from 1653. Of the year anchors in the façade, only the '3' is still present. It is by far the oldest inn in the area. Inside, a beautiful wide old fireplace dominates the entire gelagkamer. In front of the inn is a plateau with a poem suggesting that barges with peat, intended for the kettles of the beer brewers, anchored here and that this is how the inn got its name. Another explanation is that the name comes from the brewery Het Ancker in Breda, because the owner of the brewery, Peter van Bernagien, had the inn built.
Café In den Anker, tel. +31-765972615, open every day from 10:00h except Friday, café only, no lunch, no pins.
