HANNES VAN DALFSEN

Description

Paul Van Laere, 2004

A six-week-old seal has escaped from the Tierpark Nordhorn and has tried to swim to freedom via the river Vecht. On September 3, 2003, 5 days after his escape, they succeeded in catching the seal in the fish ladder of Vechterweerd near Dalfsen. Since then, the seal has been known as Hannes van Dalfsen. Eventually, the seal obtained its freedom through the seal nursery in Pieterburen. As a reminder, this bronze statuette was made by Paul van Laere and unveiled on September 2, 2004.
