The Biesbosch has long remained an inhospitable area. To keep the area accessible from Hank, a road with a drawbridge was built over the Bleke Kil around 1929. During the Second World War, the bridge formed the connection between occupied territory and liberated Brabant. The function of the bridge came to an end with land consolidation. Now nature reigns supreme on the old drawbridge. Moss flourishes on the dilapidated planks and trees weave their branches through the iron framework. It is not safe to enter the bridge. However, there are plans to refurbish the bridge. The Bleeke Kil starts at the village of Nieuwendijk and then 'flows' towards Hank. Previously, this body of water was the waterway to Hank's harbor.
