Scheendijk is a hamlet in the municipality of Stichtse Vecht in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Here is the marina of Breukelen. The hamlet is located east of Breukelen, along the Loosdrechtse Plassen.
Along the Scheendijk runs the Waterleidingkanaal. In the Bethunepolder, spring water rises from the ground and has good water quality. Water company Waternet pumps the spring water through the Waterleidingkanaal to a special part of the Loenderveense Plas: the Waterleidingplas. In the Waterleidingplas, they purify the water naturally. After 100 days, we pump it to their facility in Weesperkarspel. There, we convert it into drinking water. About 1/3 of the drinking water of Amsterdam comes from the Loenderveense Plas and thus the Bethunepolder.
