The Kaapse Bossen is a 425-hectare nature reserve in the Dutch province of Utrecht that is managed by Natuurmonumenten. It is located on the lateral moraine Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.Around 1750, after returning from South Africa where he was governor of the Cape Colony, Hendrik Swellengrebel bought the 'Schoonoordt' estate. The forests reminded him of the forest behind Table Mountain near Cape Town. They came to be known as the 'Cape Forests'. The Helena Hill in the forest is named after his eldest daughter Helena Johanna Swellengrebel, who probably died in her first childbirth.
