Bornia is part of a nature reserve that consists of three sections: Heidestein, Bornia, and Noordhout, which are located from west to east respectively. Together they form an area of 642 ha, the largest contiguous area of the Utrechts Landschap, of which Bornia with 289 ha is the largest. Bornia is situated between Zeist, Austerlitz, and Driebergen-Rijsenburg in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The A12 forms the southern boundary of the nature reserve. Bornia is mainly covered by forests and heathland. Characteristic of the area are the shifting sands.
