Bornia fait partie d'une zone naturelle composée de trois sections : Heidestein, Bornia et Noordhout, qui sont respectivement situées d'ouest en est. Ensemble, cela constitue une superficie de 642 ha, la plus grande zone continue du paysage d'Utrecht, dont Bornia avec 289 ha est la plus grande. Bornia se situe entre Zeist, Austerlitz et Driebergen-Rijsenburg dans la commune de Utrechtse Heuvelrug. L'A12 constitue la limite sud de la zone naturelle. Bornia est principalement couverte de forêts et de landes. Les sables mouvants caractérisent la région.
