The former Jesuit monastery is a monastery complex located at Kloosterweg 34-36 in Valkenburg, along with the St. Joseph Monastery built in 1984. The monastery was constructed between 1893 and 1895 by the Society of Jesus, which had been expelled from Germany due to the Kulturkampf. The architect was H.J. Hürth. The Ignatius College for German Jesuits was established here. In 1911, an additional wing and a library were built. An impressive E-shaped complex emerged, with a neo-Gothic chapel and a crossing tower at its center. The Jesuits gathered many valuable books and published the Commentaries on the Holy Scriptures.
