The former train station in Axel was 57.5 km away and was the 17th stop on the line from Mechelen to Terneuzen (MT). The station building (1871-1968) mainly served as a residence with a few rooms for station service. In 1930 a third floor was added. There was a public loading and unloading area and there were several tracks (9) and switches. The beet campaign, the various potato traders along the railway and the connection to the gas factory in the Buitenweg caused a lot of activity. Between the station and the Emmastraat, the train track was crossed by the tram track and secured with barriers, among other things. This was one of the two crossings (crossing) of train and tram in Zeeuws Vlaanderen.
