In 1916 the Tram Railway from Drieschouwen to Kloosterzande was opened, which was managed by the ZVTM (Zeeuwsch- Vlaamsche Tramweg- Maatschappij). The track ran from Drieschouwen through the Oranjestraat, Kerkdreef to the Stationsstraat where it had to cross the track of the train MechelenTerneuzen (MT-54). Because the train had priority over the tram, they had built a sandpit in the Stationsstraat where the tram could be shunted in case of an emergency to avoid a collision at the intersection. From 1 February 1934 passenger traffic was discontinued and in September 1949 freight traffic was also stopped and the tram line was abandoned.
