The drawbridge of Breukelen is a historic eye-catcher over the Vecht. Traditionally, Americans visiting Breukelen called the bridge 'the Dutch Brooklyn bridge'. The swing bridge, of course, looks nothing like the nearly two-kilometer-long Brooklyn Bridge over the East River in Brooklyn, New York, so the similarity in the English-pronounced name is no more than a nicety. Already from the 16th century there was a bridge over the Vecht here, probably a wooden folding bridge. The current bridge was built in the summer of 2022 in historic style. The bridge is the 'pivot point' in the two loops of the Breukelen-Brooklyn 375 bike tour.
