In Waterdunen, everything comes together: brackish tidal nature, recreation, coastal defense, and a testing ground for brackish cultivation. This beautiful nature area opened in 2022 and is still very much in development. Despite being newly opened, large numbers of birds and plants can already be seen here. The brackish nature in Waterdunen has developed rapidly. During your walk, you will encounter various birdwatching huts and viewing screens. From these bird hides, you can observe the birds up close without them seeing you!
Waterdunen shows that Zeeland today manages water differently. Waterdunen combines nature, recreation, and tidal dynamics in an innovative coastal reinforcement with safety as a prerequisite. In short, Waterdunen is a beautiful walking area. To maintain the tranquility, biking is not allowed.
