With a menu that consists 80% of local products and changes every three months with the seasons, De Hofkaemer in Bergeijk is a cozy regional restaurant. In a friendly, homely atmosphere, you can enjoy contemporary dishes, the origins of which can be found on the menu. Or you can ask the host or hostess for more explanation, because as a previous guest noted: “The owner provides ample explanations about everything, and his wife/chef comes to the table to hear any special wishes. Vegetarians and vegans are also well catered for here. In short, an absolute recommendation for everyone in the Kempen.”

Over 100 types of beer
The regional dishes are accompanied by very good wines, but you also have a choice of more than 100 different types of beer, including the Westvleteren XII, which is rated by many as the best beer in the world. But of course, there are also many local beers, such as La Trappe from Berkel Enschot, Sint Servattumus spelt beers from Schijndel, Van Moll beer from Eindhoven, and beer from Museumbrouwerij de Roos from Hilvarenbeek. Specially brewed for the fifteenth anniversary of De Hofkaemer is a Hofkaemeraad: a delicious Kempisch enjoy beer. The restaurant also won the Beer and Gastronomy Award a few years ago, not without reason.

Experience the Kempen
A visit to De Hofkaemer can be perfectly combined with a visit to the Weaving Mill de Ploeg, designed by Gerrit Rietveld, located in the Ruys park. The fact that Bergeijk is known as Rietveld village is also evident from the Rietveld clock and the specially designed shelter by Rietveld. And the terrace of the Hofkaemer is painted in De Stijl!
Furthermore, the rich history of Bergeijk and the Kempen is highlighted in various museums. In the Teutenhuis, you will find the Culture House and the Eichamuseum. A walk through the Nature Garden ’t Loo or a visit to the cozy Bakery Museum de Grenswachter is also highly recommended.
