The Sophiapolder is a true bird paradise. Thousands of birds come to this area. Breeding birds that return here every year include the black-headed gull, common black-headed gull, avocet, little ringed plover, black-tailed godwit, and horned grebe. But it’s not just birds that thrive in the area. The Sophiapolder is home to more than 200 plant species. It is bursting with biodiversity. The Sophiapolder is not freely accessible. However, it can be beautifully surveyed from the Isabelladijk. An observation platform has been created opposite the main bird islands to overlook it.
