Haarlem is the comic city of the Netherlands. Every two years, the Comic Days take over the city. The founder of the festival is Joost Swarte, who has been living and working in Haarlem for years. After he stopped his studies in industrial design, he quickly made a name for himself as an underground comic artist. One of his comic characters, Jopo de Pojo, is depicted on the first official comic wall of the Netherlands, painted by fellow artist Thé Tjong-Khing around the above-ground entrance of a parking garage. Take a walk around it, and a story unfolds in which about thirty comic characters battle to protect the city of Haarlem.
