Amsterdam hardly needs an introduction. The Dutch capital has been known for decades as one of the most progressive cities in Europe and possibly even worldwide.
Here, everything seems possible. A coffeeshop on every corner, girls of easy virtue as tourist attractions, fluttering rainbow flags on the facades, … This gives the city an atmosphere of tolerance and openness.
Moreover, the city bathes in a nostalgic mood thanks to the warehouses from the 17th century. Beautifully lined along the waterfront. One facade is already a little more crooked and tilted than the other.
Although the Dam forms the tourist heart of Amsterdam, we find the dreary square with the clumsy national monument.
We enjoy the atmosphere more along the water, the area around the Zeedijk, and Reguliersdwarsstraat.
