AzureIn 2019 it was 75 years ago that Limburg was liberated from the German occupation during the Second World War. This war has also left its mark in Kerkrade. Traces that are still visible: the tightly guarded border with Germany in the Nieuwstraat, places where bombers crashed and several war graves.
Via this route you cycle past these places full of history and memory. You will learn more about Kerkrade during the Second World War and perhaps look at the city with different eyes afterwards.
The route starts at Rolduc Abbey (Heyendallaan 82 in Kerkrade) and runs largely over the bicycle junctions. If you want to shorten the cycle route, you can do so via junctions 3 and 44.
