North Holland East

For those who have an eye for the landscape, North Holland above the IJ still has much beauty to offer. This route is laid out in the eastern part of the province of North Holland. The route runs from Medemblik inland to Marken and returns via the old sea dikes of the former Zuiderzee. The ride alternates through the sea clay area of West-Friesland, the polders Beemster and Purmer, and the low-peat area of Waterland. Along the way, enthusiasts can also fully enjoy historic villages (Marken, Monnickendam, Volendam, and Edam) and cities (Hoorn and Enkhuizen).
The tour starts and ends in Nieuwstraat in Medemblik, the oldest 'town' of West-Friesland.
Note: On the road between Broek in Waterland and Zuiderwoude (Burgemeester Peereboomweg), there is one-way traffic for motor vehicles during rush hours on weekdays. From Zuiderwoude, there is a ban on cars and motorcycles during the morning rush (6:00 - 9:00 AM) and from Broek in Waterland during the evening rush (4:00 - 7:00 PM).
