The parish church of Samodães is a primitive church, whose origins date back to the 9th century.
Samodães is proud of its current status. It is the result of the reconstruction of the first church , work begun in 1702 by Master Domingos Ferreira. The trunk and the choir are framed by strong carved keystones on gables (Vergílio Correia "Diário de Coimbra"). It has carvings of great artistic expression from the 18th century. A beautiful covering of gilded and polychrome statues covers the upper parts of the choir and the nave, arranged in two wide arcades, which house the tribune of the high altar, the triumphal arch and the side altars, (Vergílio Correia, "Diário de Coimbra").
The patron saint of the parish church of Samodães is Peter.
