Monument dedicated to José Arnaldo Molarinho, better known as Gravador Molarinho, a famous goldsmith .
Gravador Molarinho was born in Guimarães in 1828 and died in Porto in 1907. Without theoretical studies, he was self-taught and became a leading medallist of silver, bronze, copper, ivory and other materials. However, it is said that he was never very accepted in the art world because he did not have a university degree.
The bas-relief representing him was designed by Teixeira Lopes and the monument by António de Azevedo. It was erected in 1934 on the initiative of the Guimarães Defence and Propaganda Society and inaugurated in 1935. The monument bears the following inscription: "Land of artists and craftsmen owes to toiling greed its best timbre of glory". It is a large granite structure.
