House of Melo Alvim - Viana do Castelo

The House of Melo Alvim is an urban mansion founded in 1509.

In 1540 it was married to Melo Alvim from the Ervededo couto. It was renovated in the late 16th century in the paving style and in the late 17th century in the Baroque style . The borders of almost all the openings and the oriental-inspired battlements remain from the Manueline campaign. What remains of the ground floor are the Tuscan colonnades of the atrium where an apotropaic frown stands out. The staircase leading to the ground floor has been preserved from the Baroque program.

In the conversion of the inn into a hotel, all the archaeological remains were preserved (including two Manueline doors on the ground floor) and furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries was chosen, to which was added the design of modern furniture for two rooms.
