This chapel probably already existed in 953 and was mentioned in 1059 in the inventory of goods belonging to the Monastery of Guimarães, but was referred to as the Chapel of Saint Julian .
The interior has an irregular plan and features beautiful 17th and 18th century tiles and coffered ceilings decorated with biblical scenes or figures of saints.
On the south side of the chapel there is a high staircase , topped by a platform, where a stone cross was placed in 1940 and from where you have a beautiful panorama of the city, the mouth of the river and the sea.
