Description by the author

The Delaware River is flanked by two majestic mountains: Mount Tammany and Mount Minsi.

Today we are going to climb the latter. Not only because of its cute name, but also because this hike is known as the most beautiful in the area. The hike starts in a peaceful forest primarily consisting of deciduous trees. Soon, a rocky environment with fairy-tale trees unfolds. Here and there we see white flowers and many plants with a somewhat tropical allure. Autumn has slowly set in, resulting in a path full of yellow and red shades.

By the way, the humidity level today is extremely high. With a temperature of 27°, it oddly feels like we are walking somewhere in the tropics. During our journey, we encounter quite a few cute little creatures. Millipedes crawl calmly across the paths, and tree frogs leap into the plants right in front of our feet. Adorable squirrels and chipmunks jump from branch to branch, and we see a red-spotted salamander bathing peacefully in the sun. We even see a fox hunting for its next prey. What a beautiful environment and a true breath of fresh air.

After a steep climb, we reach the summit of Mount Minsi, at an elevation of 451 meters. The return path goes down via a wider forest trail: ideal for catching up on our past adventures. Our legs have done a good job. We quickly pull out our new hiking GPS for the statistics. We have overcome an elevation difference of 296 meters over a distance of 7.7 kilometers. The hike takes about 3.5 hours if you take it easy. Definitely a recommendation if you are in the area.
