Firà - Imerovigli

Did you know that there is a beautiful cobblestone path that runs along the caldera? All the way from Fira in the middle of the island to Oia in the far north. This path leads past numerous typical villages with white houses and charming churches.

There is always that beautifully majestic view of the blue water, the central volcano, and the satellite islands.

About 3 kilometers further, we reach Skaros Sunset Rock around sunset.

On this narrow peninsula stands a rock that is almost as iconic as Skull Rock from Peter Pan. It requires some climbing and scrambling. Eventually, we reach the tip of this land strip where there is an idyllic church with a typical blue dome roof. We are almost alone there and enjoy a beautiful sunset. A lovely place to watch the sun set into the sea.

The only way back is via a steep climb, where we are encouraged by the encroaching darkness. Meanwhile, hundreds of lights are lit in the white houses on the cliff. What a magical place this is!
