El dominio provincial De Palingbeek se encuentra en la línea divisoria de aguas entre el Ijzer y el Leie, tiene 200 ha de tamaño y consta de tres grandes partes: el Bosque Molen, el canal Ieper-Komen de 3 km de largo y la finca De Vierlingen. Ahora es una zona tranquila para caminar. La modesta cresta de separación de aguas de 40 a 60 m de altura forma una curva alrededor de Ieper (Wijtschate-Hollebeke-Zillebeke-Passendale) y recibió durante la Primera Guerra Mundial el nombre de ‘The Salient of Ypres’, el arco de Ieper.
