La parte más antigua que se conserva de la abadía benedictina de principios del siglo XII es la puerta de arco gótico en la calle Minneveld. Aún contiene la puerta de entrada original de madera de roble, reforzada con bandas y clavos de hierro forjado. El edificio de la puerta de arenisca fue ampliado y remodelado en ladrillo en el siglo XVIII y quizás también en el siglo XIX. En el siglo XIX, fue utilizado durante un tiempo como ayuntamiento. En la abadía, en 1312, se firmó el famoso 'Carta de Kortenberg' por el duque Juan II.
