Het oudste overblijvende deel van de vroeg 12de eeuwse benedictinessenabdij is de gotische spitsboogpoort aan de Minneveldstraat. Zij bevat nog de oorspronkelijke eikenhouten toegangspoort, beslagen met smeedijzeren banden en spijkers. Het zandstenen poortgebouw werd in de 18de eeuw en misschien ook nog in de 19de eeuw uitgebreid en verbouwd in baksteen. In de 19de eeuw was het een tijdlang in gebruik als gemeentehuis. In de abdij werd in 1312 het beroemde 'Charter van Kortenberg' ondertekend door Hertog Jan II.
