Este cementerio militar en el borde del bosque de Houthulst se creó después de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Las 1.723 tumbas belgas provienen de fosas comunes y de cementerios más pequeños de los alrededores. La mayoría de los soldados fueron abatidos el 28 o 29 de septiembre de 1918, durante la Ofensiva Final. En este cementerio también encontrarás 81 tumbas italianas. Estos soldados italianos eran prisioneros de guerra alemanes. Este cementerio militar belga es el segundo más grande y tiene un diseño de estrella de seis puntas.
