Los Keuzemeersen se encuentran en un recodo del Leie en el territorio de Drongen-Baarle. Durante el invierno son pastizales húmedos que raramente se inundan. Destacan las márgenes de madera y las filas de aladinos, que han desaparecido en otros prados alrededor de Gante. En las parcelas centrales, las más bajas, anidan patos de collar, colibríes amarillos, jilgueros y varias parejas de avefrías. En los bosques encuentran refugio los mochuelos. La belleza de las flores en primavera tiene nombres pintorescos como pintoresco, violetas de agua, hierba de la pipa o cola de ratón.
