La Iglesia de San Miguel (Sint-Michielskerk) debía alcanzar unos 138 metros, pero nunca fue terminada. Oficialmente por razones de seguridad. Pero en realidad, los planos eran demasiado megalómanos y la financiación no era suficiente. Detrás de la iglesia, a orillas del agua, se extiende el Pand (het Pand). El antiguo convento dominicano y hospital es hoy propiedad de la Universidad de Gante y se utiliza como centro cultural y de congresos.
