Durante el período de cría, este sendero adicional está cerrado para no perturbar, entre otras cosas, a la colonia de garzas azules. El bosque alberga a la pito real y el halcón de árbol. Y una pareja de cigüeñas. Su nido con los adultos se puede observar bien desde el carril bici de Polderstraat junto al restaurante D'hoeve. En invierno, el área recibe la visita de aguja y jilgueros. Durante todo el año, aquí se encuentran aves rapaces como el gavilán y el milano.
