In der Brutzeit ist dieser zusätzliche Wanderweg gesperrt, um unter anderem die Kolonie der blauen Reiher nicht zu stören. Der Wald bietet Unterschlupf für den Grünspecht und den Baumfalke. Und ein Storchpaar. Ihr Nest mit den Altvögeln kann man gut vom Radweg Polderstraße bei Restaurant D'hoeve beobachten. Im Winter wird das Gebiet von Raufußhühnern und Zeisigen besucht. Das ganze Jahr über halten sich hier Greifvögel wie der Sperber und der Bussard auf.
