Fábrica de Tejidos Loth (Fábrica de hilados y tejidos Scheppers, fundada en 1842) trajo una
inmigración de trabajadores del Waasland que se establecieron en el Carré Breedveld*¹. El textil era en África Central el producto por excelencia que se utilizaba como medio de intercambio para productos locales.
