El área natural de Eggertingen se extiende por 3 valles de ríos. Aquí estás cerca del Mombeek. Justo más allá del castillo, otro afluente, el Beekbeemdenbeek, desemboca en este Mombeek.
Si continúas caminando por las orillas del río hacia el valle del Mombeek, llegarás a 'Den Krommen Arm'. Allí, el Lerebeek desemboca en el Mombeek. Tu caminata ya no seguirá junto al Mombeek, sino junto al Lerebeek.
El Lerebeek nace en Riksingen (Tongeren). El Mombeek tiene su fuente un poco más al sur, en Widooie (Tongeren). Ambos ríos y sus afluentes pertenecen a la cuenca del Demer y finalmente desembocan en el Escalda. En los valles de estos tres ríos, Limburgs Landschap vzw gestiona más de 55 ha de naturaleza.
