The nature reserve Eggertingen spreads out over 3 brook valleys. Here you are close to the Mombeek. Just past the castle, another tributary, the Beekbeemdenbeek, flows into this Mombeek.
If you continue walking along the banks of the brook into the valley of the Mombeek, you will reach 'Den Krommen Arm'. There, the Lerebeek flows into the Mombeek. Your walk then continues not along the Mombeek, but along the Lerebeek.
The Lerebeek itself springs in Riksingen (Tongeren). The Mombeek has its source slightly further south in Widooie (Tongeren). Both watercourses and their tributaries belong to the Demer basin and eventually flow into the Scheldt. In the valleys of these three brooks, Limburgs Landschap vzw is currently managing more than 55 hectares of nature.
