La obra es una escultura de bronce del tamaño de un hombre. Se realizó en base, entre otras cosas, a material fotográfico de principios de los años 60 del entonces champetter Petrus Ferbiest. "Visité a la familia del último champetter. Aún tenían la chaqueta del uniforme original para mí y algunas fotos antiguas," dice Christa Alaert.
La imagen fue creada eliminando material de un bloque. Esto requiere el necesario estudio y trabajo de bocetos por adelantado para que todo esté bien posicionado. A finales de julio, la estatua fue terminada y llevada al fundidor de bronce para ser fundida según el proceso de cera perdida.
