Anteriormente Gran Escuela, más tarde escuela y monasterio de oradores. En 1448, los edificios adyacentes Wollemarkt-Schoolstraat fueron comprados por la ciudad para establecer una escuela pública, llamada "Gran Escuela". Edificios entregados en 1630 a la congregación de los oradores (orden fundada en 1624 en Scherpenheuvel), quienes se encargaron de la educación en latín y, a partir de 1645, del ministerio de la parroquia de San Juan. Construcción de un puente sobre el Melaan, llamado "Puente de los Oradores", como conexión entre el monasterio y la iglesia de San Juan.
