"La actual caña del parque Ter Bronnen se desarrolló gradualmente en el lugar donde antes pastaban los caballos de la familia Solvay. En aquella época, el lugar naturalmente pantanoso fue drenado para que pudiera mantenerse un prado e incluso una escuela ecuestre. Pero tras la interrupción de la actividad humana, el agua recuperó terreno y despejó el camino para un crecimiento vegetal típico de ambientes húmedos. En 1997, Leefmilieu Bruselas firmó un acuerdo con el municipio de SintLambrechts-Woluwe para la gestión del cañaveral que desde 1994, junto con el resto del parque Ter Bronnen, había adquirido el estatus de reserva natural."
