Estamos a orillas de un hermoso río de la región, el Woluwe. Al igual que el Senne o el Maelbeek, el Woluwe es un río importante que marca el paisaje bruselense. Más excéntrico, difícil de valorar industrialmente en el siglo XIX, ha podido conservar un carácter rural. Su biotopo interesante, de hecho, hoy está incluido en el inventario Natura 2000. Ofrece vistas de algunos paisajes típicos de la región, compuestos por cursos de agua que fluyen con despreocupación en zonas pantanosas, todo en fondos de valles inundables. El nombre de Bruselas, cuya etimología se encontraría en la palabra 'Bruocsella' o 'habitat de los pantanos', cobra aquí todo su sentido!
