Este monumento situado en la plaza entre la avenida Henri Paris y la avenida Leray fue inaugurado en 1960.
Consta de una base cuadrangular sobre escalón, firmada por el arquitecto Marcel Tock , y un busto de bronce, obra de Stella Laurent. Se caracteriza por su gran sobriedad formal.
Este busto es un homenaje a Alberto I, rey de los belgas de 1909 a 1934, durante un período lleno de acontecimientos para Bélgica, incluidas las turbulencias de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Algo a lo que se alude en el busto es al rey luciendo su característico casco de Adrián .
