Aquest monument a la plaça entre l'avinguda Henri Paris i l'avinguda Leray es va inaugurar l'any 1960.
Es compon d'una base quadrangular sobre un esglaó, signada per l'arquitecte Marcel Tock , i d'un bust de bronze, obra de Stella Laurent. Es caracteritza per la seva gran sobrietat formal.
Aquest bust és un homenatge a Albert I, rei dels belgues de 1909 a 1934, durant un període ple d'esdeveniments per a Bèlgica, incloent les turbulències de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Alguna cosa a què s'al·ludeix al bust és el rei que porta el seu característic casc d'Adrià .
A prop hi ha un monument a la seva dona Elisabeth .
