Este manantial está estrechamente asociado con la leyenda de San Livino , un misionero y mártir irlandés del siglo VII.
El manantial es un lugar histórico de peregrinación. Según la tradición, San Livino golpeó la tierra con su bastón durante su predicación en la región, tras lo cual brotó un manantial en ese lugar. Este acto se considera un símbolo de su santidad y su conexión con la región. Tras su martirio en el año 633, donde fue decapitado , se dice, según la leyenda, que caminó hasta Sint-Lievens-Houtem con la cabeza bajo el brazo para ser enterrado allí.
La fuente consiste en un pozo con una capilla con pilares de ladrillo detrás , en la que se yergue una estatua policromada de San Livino. La capilla actual probablemente sustituye a una del siglo XVIII.
