El lago se puede alcanzar a través del valle del Ródano. Desde Sion se conduce hasta el último lugar más grande, Fortunau. Después, una carretera de montaña llena de serpentinas lleva hasta el embalse. También se puede llegar a pie desde el paso Rawil o el Schnidejoch desde el cantón de Berna hasta el lago.
Originalmente, la autopista del Simmental debía llevarse a cabo a través del paso Rawil hacia Valais; un túnel habría estado cerca de la presa de Tzeuzier. Dado que en las perforaciones de sondeo ocurrieron movimientos más grandes en la pared de lo esperado, no solo se bajó el nivel del agua; fue una de las razones por las que la autopista se retrasó durante años, hasta que finalmente se abandonó. Con el túnel base de Lötschberg se volvió completamente obsoleta.
